How to take good care of your denim
Why care for your jeans?
Well-maintained jeans last longer, age better, and develop a unique patina. Denim is a living material , and the more you care for it, the more it reveals its character.
The first wash – Be careful with indigo
-
When washing for the first time , always wash your jeans alone .
-
Raw denim releases a lot of indigo , which can easily wash out or stain other clothing.
-
Preferably use a 30° cycle with a small amount of detergent.
💡 IZZO Tip : To limit color bleeding, immerse your new jeans in a basin of cold water with a little white vinegar before the first wash. This helps set the color.
The golden rules of washing
-
Turn jeans inside out before washing to protect the color and fibers.
-
Ideal temperature: 30° (40° maximum for thick fabrics).
-
No tumble drying : it damages the cotton and reduces its lifespan.
-
Little detergent : choose a gentle detergent, without fabric softener.
-
Space out washes : there's no need to wash too often; jeans don't need to be machine washed after each wear.
💡 IZZO Tip : To freshen up jeans without washing them, hang them out to air dry or place them in a bag in the freezer for a few hours.
Drying & ironing – The essential step
-
Air drying recommended.
-
Avoid direct sunlight (which can fade too quickly).
-
Mandatory ironing : too often neglected, it is nevertheless an essential action.
-
The heat helps relax the cotton fibers , making the jeans more flexible and comfortable .
-
This helps keep the look clean and new for longer.
-
It's also a gesture of sustainability , because well-ironed jeans keep their shape and age better.
-
💡 IZZO Tip : Ironing your jeans after each wash is the best way to extend their life and make them more comfortable to wear.
Durability & style
-
The more you wear your jeans, the more unique they become.
-
Creases, washes and patina build over time.
-
Well cared for, a pair of jeans can last you for years .
Mistakes to avoid ❌
-
Wash your jeans with other clothes during the first wash .
-
Wash your jeans after each use.
-
Use a clothes dryer.
-
Using too much detergent or harsh products.
